For the past fifteen
years we have treated all forms of spinal disease at Island Sports
Physical Therapy. From the patient with disc herniation and radiculopathy,
to the tight musculoskeletal and rheumatological patient. All patients
differ in symptoms, needs, and tolerance to exercise. Having the full
resources of modality therapy, hands-on care, strengthening equipment, and
an aquatic center, has given our physical therapists a full menu of
treatment options to best suit the needs of their patients. This choice
and variety tends to be an important motivating factor for our patients.
Below is a list of spinal related disorders commonly treated at
Island Sports Physical Therapy:

Spinal surgeons have different training and philosophies regarding managing their
patients. Advances in spinal surgery coupled with research supporting the
early use of therapeutic exercise has shortened immobilization time.
Returning patients to full function and activities of daily living begins
with a competent patient profile. Modalities, stretching and hands-on-care
helps determine what level of exercises each patient can handle. All of
the above, and home program design has historically worked best. We
encourage all inquiries especially to our aquatic programs.
